Furious Frank to Release New Album Next Tuesday, 3/27!


Chicago-based gypsy punk band Furious Frank will be releasing their second album, The Map & The Territory, on Tuesday, March 27 via Southern Love Records. The Map & The Territory follows up 2009's acclaimed Hobocamp Mud Show.

The album, which was produced by bandleader Mason Payne and mixed and mastered by Dustin Delage, features a hot dozen cuts of folk, country, punk and world music spiced up with bohemian flavor.

Furious Frank has shared Midwest stages with Robbie Fulks, Bottle Rockets, Buckwheat Zydeco and JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound. On Saturday, March 31 the band will celebrate the release of The Map & The Territory with a hometown show at Subterranean, 2011 W. North Ave.

Jonas Friddle to Celebrate the Release of Two New Albums @ The Hideout, 3/24


Chicago folk singer Jonas Friddle has not one, but two new full-length albums out this month and he and his band, The Majority, will be celebrating the dual release at The Hideout on Saturday, March 24.

The albums, Synco Pony and Belle De Louisville, both reference old-time music without sounding at all dated, and two representative tracks, "A String to a Bell" and "The Ballad of Babyface and Too Tall Sue" can be downloaded for free at Friddle's official Website.

Xoe Wise Releases New Single


Chicago singer-songwriter Xoe Wise has just released a new single in advance of her sophomore album, Archive of Illusion, due May 1, 2012.

The single, "All You Gave," can be downloaded for free here.

Wise will be performing live on WGN-TV on Friday, May 25 with a record release show to follow.

Wanderlust


Wanderlust is an art festival presented by Bottom Lounge upstairs in the Volcano room on March 8, 2012. Admission is free! Doors are at 8:00pm and there will also be light appetizers served from 9-11pm.

Surabhi: A Melting Pot of Music @ Mayne Stage, 3/9


Surabhi: A Melting Pot of Music brings together Chicago's top performers from the worlds of Indian and flamenco song and dance at Mayne Stage on Friday, March 9. The evening will feature Ensemble of Ragas and Las Guitarras De Espana with instrument leads courtesy of Carlo Basile (guitar) and Sara Ranganathan (pictured) on veena. The dance leads will be Wendy Clinard (flamenco) and Viji Ranganathan (bharatanatyam). Writer and broadcaster Catalina Maria Johnson will be on board as the evening's host.
