Cole DeGenova Drops Another Country

Local musician (and Berklee College of Music grad) Cole DeGenova has just dropped his sophomore album, Another Country, and will celebrate its release with his backing band, The Peoples Republic, and special guests Sidewalk Chalk and The Heard at Lincoln Hall tomorrow night, 8/30.

Another Country fuses soul, pop, jazz and hip hop into an exhilarating whole and sports some terrific cuts. Opening track "Those Kids" brings to mind 70's-era Stevie Wonder as filtered through Justin Timberlake and MGMT. "Radio Hero" is pristine blue-eyed soul with jazzy percussion and spacey synthesizers; "Lovely Generation" is future funk with chicken-scratch guitar, skittering beats and a staccato vox that would make Anthony Kiedis jealous; penultimate cut "Blues No More" is another strong vocal workout for DeGenova--one driven by hand claps and funky oragn.
