Jackpot Donnie-Mayday!

Chicago's Jackpot Donnie will celebrate the release of their new EP, Mayday!, with a show at Metro (supporting The Future Laureates) this Friday, March 29.

Mayday! storms out of the gate with "Juju," a hard rock/blues hybrid and segues into "What On Earth," a tip of the hat to ska and reggae-influenced acts from 10cc to Sublime (Matt Love's vocals more indebted to 70's British belters than the late Sublime singer Bradley Nowell). 70's funk lightly informs the track "Hindsight," while "Step Back" revisits the hard rock blueprint followed by "Juju." EP closer "The Art of Mixing Colors" stretches out a bit--Peter Spero's keyboards adding just the right amount of color to a mid-tempo slice of working class, Midwestern rock.

Jackpot Donnie will be in-studio on WLUW this Thursday, March 28 at 6PM.
