Akasha to Open For Ky-Mani Marley & Sister Nancy at the Shrine

Dancehall legend Sister Nancy will be at The Shrine on Friday, May 6th and has enlisted local reggae up-and-comers Akasha to share the stage! Sister Nancy has been described as "a dominating female voice for over two decades", and is best known for her reggae anthem, "Bam Bam" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXnT3LFTc-s).

As of just this weekend, Bob Marley's second-youngest son Ky-Mani has been added to the bill! Ky-Mani Marley has recorded numerous albums, starred in two movies, and has collaborated with musicians in the R&B, dancehall and hip-hop genres.

Akasha has been making waves in Chicago with their authentic yet accessible reggae jams. With deep grooves and rich vocal harmonies, Akasha takes a rootsy and traditional approach to their sound. Make sure to get to the Shrine early and catch these guys!
